Wind - Flood - Fire Restoration Services

Equipment

Allied Restoration will employ a combination of the following air movers on water damage restoration projects.

Phoenix Focus Axial Air Mover
Phoenix Axial Air Mover

The Phoenix Axial Air Mover is the industry’s only air mover specifically engineered with patent pending FOCUS™ Technology. FOCUS Technology revolutionizes evaporative drying by producing air velocities greater than competitive products and focusing those velocities on hard-to-dry areas such as carpet and pad, sub-floor and walls.

3,000 CFM 2.5 Amps, 0.25 Horsepower, Two speed.

Dry Air Force 9 Air Mover
Dry Air Force 9 Axial Air Mover

Designed after extensive research, the Force 9 covers huge drying areas while its unique daisy chain feature connects 6 units to one outlet.

3,900 CFM 2.5 Amps, 0.25 Horsepower, Two speed.

Air Movers

Xtreme 2200 Turbo

The Xtreme 2200 has the highest CFM rating for a turbo style air mover on the market today.

1,900 CFM 4.7 Amps, 0.25 Horsepower, Three speed.

Dehumidifiers

There are four different types of dehumidifiers used in the restoration industry.

  • Standard Refrigerant
  • Conventional (Hot Gas, By-pass) Refrigerant
  • Low Grain Refrigerant (LGR)
  • Desiccant

These four types work differently to perform the same function, that is, remove moisture from the air. Below you will find a quick explanation of how each one operates.

Standard / Conventional Refrigerant Dehumidifiers

Refrigerant dehumidification works by passing air over refrigerated coils to condense water vapor similar to a home air conditioner. These machines operate efficiently in a narrow temperature range. Although these units remove moisture from the air, the volume of moisture removal is limited by the compressor and design.
Commercial grade Conventional Dehumidifiers are calibrated and designed for high moisture rich environments like flooded structures. They are equipped with defrost controls to minimize freezing on the condensation coil. These dehumidifiers are designed to be moved from job to job in and out of service vehicles. The coil and compressors are larger than units designed for residential use. You may have a dehumidifier in your home now. Typically, it is only designed for light humidity problems.
The energy efficiency of these units is between 2 to 3 pints of water removal per Kilowatt of power usage.

Low-Grain Refrigerant (LGR) Dehumidifiers

The LGR is a unique form of commercial grade refrigerant dehumidifier because it is much more energy efficient; capable of removing a larger volume of moisture from the air than a conventional dehumidifier. LGR dehumidifiers are enhanced to lower the moisture laden air temperature once inside the dehumidifier. More condensation can form on the internal cooling coils. The water is collected, and then discharged from the dehumidifier by a built-in pump. LGR units provide the best moisture removal for refrigerant dehumidifiers and produce air that is dryer.

The energy efficiency of the LGRs used by Allied Restoration is between 5 to 7 pints of water removal per Kilowatt of power usage.

Desiccant Dehumidifiers

Desiccant dehumidifiers work differently than refrigerant dehumidifiers. Desiccants use a highly absorbent compound, most commonly a silica gel. Air is moved across this absorbent material which removes the moisture, then delivers the drier air back to the affected area. As the number of air exchanges continues, the moisture level in a wet structure is reduced to pre-flood conditions. Desiccants can easily operate in temperatures below freezing.

Desiccant dehumidifiers range in size from small portable units to very large trailer-mounted machines. The capacity of each desiccant is rated by CFMs or Cubic Feet per Minute. Sizes can range from 150 CFM's to 100,000 CFM's. All Allied Restoration technicians have the training to properly size a job to determine the appropriate equipment requirements.

Extractors

HydroX and HydroX Backpack

Weighted Roller Extractors.

Allied Restoration uses the Phoenix Hydro-X Xtractor to remove water soaked carpet and pad. It is the most effective and efficient extraction tool on the market today. The Hydro-X Xtractor’s patented Suction Roller provides both suction and compression—forcing water to the surface then sucking the water away, not allowing the water to be reabsorbed back into the carpet and pad. No other extractor today can pull as much water from the carpet and pad.

Insurance companies recognize the Hydro-X as the best tool on the market and allow for "special extraction tool" rates.

The Society for Cleaning Restoration Technicians, formerly ISCT, performed a study of extraction devices at Shaw Industries. The results from that testing can be seen in the published report from www.isct.com. In that independent study of restoration professionals, the Hydro-X Xtractor with the Hydro-X Vac Pac pulled more water out of the carpet and pad than any other product on the market today in one case pulling 40 gallons (or 320 pints) more water out of the structure than the next best tool.

Industry experts all say it is easier to extract water out of a structure than it is through dehumidification and air movement. To shorten the time of the drying process, a Hydro-X Xtractor is a necessity.

The Hydro-X Xtreme Xtractor tool can be connected with the Hydro-X Vacuum Pac, other portable extractors or truckmounts. However, the SCRT W.E.T. Study showed best performance is when combined with the Hydro-X Vacuum Pac.

Not all Carpet and Pad configurations are the same.

Every specific combination of carpet and pad will require the restorer to check and determine how many passes the Hydro-X must make to dry the floor. One structure could have multiple different carpet/pad configurations; thus the restorer will have to check each one to determine the proper amount of passes.

Note: The Xtractor is to be used for ONLY carpet and pad. Running on hard surfaces (like glue-down carpet) will not allow for a proper vacuum seal and could damage the perforated roller.
